A Three-Day Comprehensive Workshop with Celina Marquis Kelly

This comprehensive workshop introduces artists of all levels to the vibrant techniques of oil and soft pastels, covering essential skills like mark-making, layering, blending, and color theory. Participants will explore the creamy, painterly texture of oil pastels and the powdery, blendable nature of soft pastels to create realistic fall landscapes of the grounds and spaces of Holy Family Retreat Center.

ABOUT CELINA MARQUIS KELLY
Celina Marquis Kelly is an independent artist and high school art teacher based in Connecticut. She has a master’s degree in art education from Central Connecticut State University and currently teaches studio art at Northwest Catholic High School. Her focus is primarily on capturing the essence and heart of beloved homes, places, and spaces. She is a lover of realism, the organic, and of hidden gems, who looks to capture a moment, an experience, or a special place and help people appreciate the little things that generally get overlooked. Her goal is to create a body of work that tugs at a person's heartstrings. Much of her landscape work focuses on capturing Nova Scotia, Canada, primarily Clare County. Since childhood, she has called it a second home. Her hope is to show people that true unadulterated beauty in nature still exists; you just have to keep your eyes and your heart open.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
This program is being hosted by The Monastery Gallery of Art with space and online registration provided by Holy Family Retreat & Conference Center. Registration fees cover the cost of the provided art supplies, accommodations, snacks, and meals during your stay. The retreat begins on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. with an overview of planned activities, followed by dinner at 6:00 p.m., and concludes on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. with a boxed lunch for the road.
