Our Deepest Longing Exhibit
The Exhibit
Each year, the Gallery asks artists near and far to interpret the theme that mirrors the retreat theme at Holy Family Retreat Center, on whose campus the Gallery resides. The theme is posted, with no context or explanation, and artists are invited to use their creative spirit, in any medium, to present a visual interpretation. This year, the Gallery showcases a wide variety of artists and artworks, each representing their “deepest longing.” From love to peace, from safety to acceptance, from hope to a wish, the artworks reveal that which is important to the artist. For us to read the artist’s thoughts and gaze at the art enhances our own ability to visualize an image for our own “deepest longing.” |
Reception
The reception for the “Our Deepest Longing” exhibit was held on January 25th. Over 125 people attended and enjoyed the art, music, poetry, and food. Six artists spoke about their work, and gave insight as to their process and connection to the theme. The Gallery was a busy place filled with the creative spirit and meaningful conversation about “Our Deepest Longing!” Thanks to our artists who contributed poetry and music and to John Cashman who provided cello accompaniment.
